Exciting Powerchair Champions League Draw

The first ever European Powerchair Football Association (EPFA) was concluded with the draw for the first Powerchair Champions League draw. The draw saw the 2 English teams separated so they could not meet at the group stages and all other teams drawn randomly. The first 2 teams to be drawn were the English teams, with Aspire first out the hat followed by Northern Thunder. The hat with the remaining 6 teams were then drawn. Next team out were Montauban (French champions) setting up the first game in Pool A as English v French champions at Corot. The other teams drawn in Pool A are Vaucression and Villeneuve d’Ascq. International Friendly Tournament in Villeneuve d’Ascq

07_demifinale_montauban_aspire1_030.jpgTwo months prior the Powerchampion’s League, France has already hosted some European teams for a friendly tournament.

This event, planned 2 years ago,  was finally a good way to train for the Powerchampion’s League.
Villeneuve d’Ascq, the hosting city, was so visited by Aspire PSC (London UK),  Montauban (France) and Charleroi (Belgium) for a total of 6 teams, including 4 who will be at the PCL also. (more…)

1st European Zone Congress

1st EPFA Congress meeting took place on 4 October 2008 in Newcastle, England. Participating countries included Belgium, England and France.

They approved the constitution of the Zone, with headquarters in Nottingham, England. Updates were given on all commissions, discussions around NOPf’s calendar of events and planning of future zone events / activities. (more…)

Demonstration in Ireland

IMG_0035.JPGOn 15th August eight players representing EPFA/FIPFA started their journey across to Ireland. Players from Newcastle, Sunderland, London, Essex and Cornwall all went to this event.

After a long journey, the players and support staff arrived safely at Limerick University. After being provided with a meal and after a couple of drinks, everyone decided it was time to call it a night, ready for the early start the following morning. (more…)
