1st European Zone Congress

1st EPFA Congress meeting took place on 4 October 2008 in Newcastle, England. Participating countries included Belgium, England and France.

They approved the constitution of the Zone, with headquarters in Nottingham, England. Updates were given on all commissions, discussions around NOPf’s calendar of events and planning of future zone events / activities. (more…)

Demonstration in Ireland

IMG_0035.JPGOn 15th August eight players representing EPFA/FIPFA started their journey across to Ireland. Players from Newcastle, Sunderland, London, Essex and Cornwall all went to this event.

After a long journey, the players and support staff arrived safely at Limerick University. After being provided with a meal and after a couple of drinks, everyone decided it was time to call it a night, ready for the early start the following morning. (more…)

EPFA : Ready for the new PowerChampion’s League ?

One year after the first World Cup in Tokyo, Powerchair Football’s strategy for world development is actually crossing a new stage. Expanding upon the dynamic of the last world event, the European Powerchair Football Association, the continental federation representing five countries within FIPFA in Europe, has decided to create a new competition for European clubs: the Power Champion’s League.  This project, born few months ago, is now becoming a reality.  With the help of Ricky Stevenson, President of EPFA, Nicolas Dubes, European Sports (more…)

English WFA Sirus League: back to football!

wfalogo-high-resThe English WFA Sirus National League kicks off on Saturday 18 Sept 2010, this year sees some new changes with 20 teams taking part across the 3 Divisions. ASPIRE PFC will try and retain the Sirus Premiership Championship title, while newly promoted Villa Rockets will look to compete in the top division once again. In Sirus Championship Division Nottingham Powerchair FC will look to gain promotion back to the premiership, Newly promoted Evergreen will look to compete against other Championship teams for this new season. Sirus League One see 6 new teams join which will see 8 teams in total compete for the title. (more…)

Swiss League : Vevey Eagles first champions

P1040055.JPGThis weekend a first ever Swiss Championship concluded. A first round took place in Vevey on 31 March 2010, with Vevey Aigles taking the lead with three points over Geneva Pirates, who looked forward to taking their revenge this weekend at the return match in Geneva.

Vevey Eagles gained the honours of the first ever title of Swiss Champions.

As in Vevey, the event was marked by a high turnout of supporters, because already Powerchair Football is attracting a lot of attention in Switzerland. We are expecting reports of a grand celebration of the victory in Plan-les-Ouates … The players are certain to be very proud of this first title.

photo youcefFor the first time ever in France, at the French First Division Championship evening match on Saturday, 17 April 2010, Boulogne honoured Powerchair Football at its match against Olympique Marseille. The kick-off at the match, given by Youcef Ayad Zeddam, who plays in the French national Powerchair Football team, was widely reported in the French sporting media and shown live on television, giving a great boost to the visibility of Powerchair Football. EPFA PCL 2010 Official draw

logo-pcl-2010-aylesburyThe draw of  2010 EPFA PowerChampion’s League took place on 14th March 2010 in Newcastle (England) following EPFA Congress, four weeks before the european clubs descend at Stoke Mandeville Aylesbury (England) for two days of competition. p1040519The city of Zamość in Poland is 60km from the border with Ukraine, it has been a multi-cultural centre of learning and progress in Europe from its founding in the sixteenth century. It is also the furthest place to the south-east of FIPFA’s Europe Zone (as far as we know) to have a Powerchair Football club! (more…)
