The extended FIPFA family met last week in Singapore to take one of the most important steps for the development of powerchair football in Asia-Pacific-Oceania. With the valuable assistance of the Singapore Disability Sports Council and the Disability Classification and Research Centre, whose staff and volunteers did a remarkable job, our International Federation organized a comprehensive introductory course, intended for players, coaches and referees who want to discover Powerchair Football. The inaugural America’s Champions Cup, held 23-24 October 2009 in Suwanee, Georgia, (USA) scored a new “first” with the global news network CNN reporting from the event with inside stories about this dynamic team sport played in electric wheelchairs. The first international player transfer, the French Jerome Durand talks about teamwork skills and determination. Dakotah Smith, a business management student from the US describes what motivates her game.
